A Welcome Message from the Chairman
2014 will see some changes in our board composition. Some long term members have retired, taken a position at another location, or simply resigned. Their expertise will be missed, but we hope to have new members to serve on the board very soon. We have completed our 6th "Career Day" and are already planning for next year. The project at Granite City High School has completed another year, and those young folks seem to be more enthusiastic than last year. The opportunity to learn about the expectations in the business world is a great addition to the curriculum, and offers a chance to talk with business leaders in the community. As I write this, we are proceeding on the implementation of an Advanced Manufacturing focused Workforce Innovation Grant. This will be a difficult project, but the results should be worth the effort as participants in the project learn in-demand skills for the manufacturing businesses in our area, and beyond. Our customized training program in cooperation with St. Louis City is also making steady progress and we hope to see the graduates entering a new career in the medical field after a very thorough and customized training program.
