“Workforce Development Week” Activity to be Held in Alton, Illinois

“Workforce Development Week” is August 27–September 2, 2006. The Madison-Bond Workforce Investment Board, the Madison County Employment and Training Department and the Illinois Department of Employment Security would like to invite you to a special event on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 to highlight the entities within a community that work together to build a well-prepared workforce in Madison and Bond Counties. “Workforce Development Week 2006” will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Illinois Employment and Training Center (“Alton One-Stop”) located at 88 Northport Drive, Alton. Invited guests include state and local government officials; Chamber of Commerce executives; area employers; educators; individuals representing economic development; Alton One-Stop Partners; and Workforce Development Award winners.

The discussion will feature information on workforce development issues and the importance of a coordinated effort within a community; current community partnerships and activities; the importance of education in creating a well-prepared workforce; and, a description of the services available to employers and job seekers. A tour of the Illinois Employment and Training Center will also be offered. In addition, there will be a presentation on Illinois workNet. Illinois workNet is an online resource providing career, education and work support information to employers as well as individuals seeking employment.
