Website to Partner Business with Education Introduced to the Community
On November 16, 2006, the Madison-Bond and Mid America Workforce Investment Boards (WIB) introduced a new interactive website to the community during “Education Showcase 2006 - Business after Hours”. The event took place at Granite City High School; was hosted by the Madison-Bond WIB; and presented by the Chamber of Commerce Southwestern Madison County.
“Showcase 2006” highlighted the accomplishments of the Granite City and Madison School Districts, as well as the Lincoln Charter School in Venice. Guests
representing education, business and government
had an opportunity to tour the high school as well as visit with the students who demonstrated their exceptional technical skills.
The “Partners in Progress” website was demonstrated by staff from The Mediacall Group, the creators of the site. The website is funded by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and is designed to partner area businesses with the educational system. It offers a very “user-friendly” interactive database by which to build these partnerships. The site is designed to alert school officials to available work-based employment opportunities in the area, and informs businesses about the types of educational program opportunities open for their participation. The end result is to create a well-informed and well-prepared future workforce.
The evening was very well received by all who attended and we congratulate the students on their fine achievements.
