A Welcome Message from the Chairman
Welcome to the Madison-Bond Workforce Investment Board's Website. We are dedicated to ensuring that the region's workforce needs are met, that we collaborate with our business, economic development, labor, education and 1-Stop Partners, and that the area remains competitive in an ever increasing global economy.
Among the MBWIB's more recent accomplishments are: the launching of the job seeker workshops at our local libraries; our partnership in the business retention program; participation in the on-the-job training (OJT) National Emergency Grant focused on the manufacturing sector; partnering with the East West Gateway Coordinating Council's "Sustainable Communities Project"; the expansion of business services; the Venice Community Gardens Program; and the 21st "JOBS + '11" which provides service to both business and the community's workers. The MBWIB also sponsored its 4th Career Day events this year, which was held at the Greenville Junior High School and High School, and we are in the planning stages for our 2012 events with the Youth Council taking the lead.
These last few years have been particularly challenging, as the resources needed to address the area's needs have been dwindling. As we have reduced staff and office numbers, it has become more of a test to serve the many needs in our community.
Although much has been accomplished over the past few years, the challenges facing the local workforce have never been greater. That being said, I am confident that the MBWIB will continue to rise to the challenges of the changing workforce and serve the region well.
